ELECTIONS 2010
- February 23, 2010 Berkley School District Election (Oak Park Precincts 1, 15, 18 and 19 only)
January 25, 2010 Last Day to Register to Vote for February 23, 2010 election
- May 4, 2010 Ferndale School District Election (Oak Park Precincts 5, 6, 11 and 17 only)
April 5, 2010 Last Day to Register to Vote for May 4, 2010 election
- August 3, 2010 State Primary Election (Gubernatorial)
July 6, 2010 Last Day to Register to Vote for August 3, 2010 election
Before you can vote in any election, you must be registered at least 30 days before the election. IF YOU ARE ALREADY REGISTERED IN OAK PARK, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER AGAIN.
To register to vote, you must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 18 years of age by Election Day, and a resident of the City where you are applying.
You can register at the City Clerk's Office, 13600 Oak Park Blvd., Oak Park, MI 48237, or at any Secretary of State Office. In addition, various other state agencies provide voter registration services. You may also register by mail, however, if you register by mail and have never voted in Michigan, you must appear in person to vote in the first election in which you wish to participate. This requirement does not apply if (1) you personally hand-deliver the voter registration form to the City Clerk's Office, (2) you are 60 years of age or more, (3) you are disabled, or (4) you are eligible to vote under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act.
October 4, 2010 Last Day to Register to Vote for November 2, 2010 election.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:
Absentee voter ballots are available to residents who meet one of the following requirements:
- You are unable to vote without assistance.
- 60 years or older.
- Expect to be absent from City on election day.
- In jail, awaiting arraignment or trial.
- Assigned to work as a precinct inspector.
- Unable to attend polls because of religious beliefs.
To obtain an absentee voter ballot application, contact the City Clerk's Office at (248) 691-7544.
Anyone who has already requested to have their name placed on a permanent absentee ballot application list will automatically receive an application in the mail.
Any handicapped or ill person requiring special accommodation may contact the city Clerks Office.

The City Clerk's Office provides service to City Council, the Board of Zoning Appeals, Employee's Retirement System, Election Commission, and Board of Canvassers. On a daily basis, the Clerk's office issues merchant's licenses, garage sale permits, lawn care licenses, taxi cab licenses, handbill permits, precious metals licenses, sidewalk sale permits, vendor's licenses, mechanical amusement device licenses, distributor licenses, going-out-of business licenses, maintains a real estate non-solicitation list with sales and updates of the list to real estate companies, publishes all legal notifications. The City Clerk's office is also an official passport acceptance facility to all Oak Park Residents only. Also, the City Clerk's office offers public notary services that may be limited to Oak Park residents or official business within the City of Oak Park.
