  • Thursday, February 26th, 6:30 p.m., Coretta Scott King Comes Alive, presented by a storyteller, author, librarian, and educator, Gwendolyn Lewis. Sponsored by Friends of the Oak Park Library. No registration is necessary! Everybody is welcome!
  • March is a READING Month! Come in and read to a Dog! They are excellent listeners and will not judge you if you get words wrong! For more information please see the Flyer or our Calendar of Events . No registration is necessary!
  • Sunday, March 1st, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Berkley High School Collaborative Center BOOKBEAT and Berkley Schools present FREE event The 8th Read in the Park. No registration is necessary!
  • Thursday, March 5th, 6:30 p.m., Clay Boura , the local author and illustrator, will read and sign his book Don't Let Cat Out of the Bag! Everybody is welcome!

  About Us:

Today, Oak Park Library is more than a collection of books, periodicals, audio books and DVDs for the public to borrow. It has also developed into the community’s center for cultural events ranging from concerts and art exhibits to special children’s events. Moreover, today’s patrons also have computer access to the holdings of 65 other area libraries.

The Library organizes various special programs for its patrons:

  • Story Time for children 2–6 year old
  • Adult Book Club
  • Summer Reading Program for school-age children
  • Adult Summer Reading Club
  • Exhibits
  • Concerts
  • Lectures
  • Poetry Sessions

The Library houses more than 2,000 Russian language books. It is a member of The Library Network, a consortium of 65 members libraries located in Wayne, Oakland, Livingston and Washtenaw Counties. The Library has a free Wi-Fi Internet access.
